Lois Ann Bailey, 66, of Jacksonville, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 10, 2023. She was born in Cumberland, Maryland on March 30, 1956, to Boyd and Mary Friend, and was the youngest of two children. She spent her childhood through high school in the Loch Lynn area of Garrett County, Maryland. Lois was a shining light, a voracious reader, a loyal friend to many, and an Executive Assistant extraordinaire. Those closest to her were blessed to have known her, and will always remember her passion for her children, her kindness, and her generous heart. Lois was a member of Grace Fellowship Church, Timonium, Maryland. Lois was a 1974 graduate of Southern Garrett High School where she excelled in the business program. She graduated from the Business Associates Program at Strayer University in 1975. She loved her job as an Executive Assistant to the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services (DPSCS). She retired from DPSCS in 2010, and served two other small healthcare companies, Conmed Healthcare of Hanover, MD, and American Caresource in their Dallas, Texas and Atlanta, Georgia locations, again acting as the Executive Assistant to the CEO. Lois is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Bailey; her loving daughter, Zoe Bailey; her brother and his wife, Chuck and Lois Friend; nephews Jennifer Friend-Robinson and Benjamin Friend; and numerous other relatives and friends. She is preceeded in death by her son, Zachary Bailey. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 15th at 11:30 AM at Ruck Towson Funeral Home, 1050 York Road, Towson, Maryland 21204. The family will greet friends at the Ruck Towson Funeral Home on Monday, February 13th from 6 PM to 8 PM, and on Wednesday, February 15th from 10:30 AM until the time of service. The family will greet our Garrett County friends at noon Friday, February 17, 2023 at the C&S Fredlock Funeral Home, 21 N 2nd St, Oakland, MD 21550, with interment immediately following at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Oakland, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lois's name to the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Company, 3500 Sweet Air Road, Phoenix, Maryland 21131.
